Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery:
Cheek Implants (Malar)
General description
Cheek implant surgery takes anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour. It requires a single procedure; incisions are made at the intra-oral level in the upper level mucous membrane. A snug pocket is created at the cheekbone level to hold the implant. Recovery from this surgery varies depending on the procedure followed. Inflammation and discomfort are normal after surgery although these symptoms disappear in a few days and can be treated with analgesics and anti-inflammatory medication. It is important that you follow the post-surgery instructions given by the physician.
Benefits
End results will be seen after a few weeks or months. People noticing your implant will surprise you. They will just tell you look different or better.
Technical description
Procedure – When this plastic surgery is performed at the same time as other facial rejuvenation surgery (ritidectomy, blepharoplasty, frontoplasty) the implant will be placed through the incisions opened for these interventions. If the implant is a single procedure, the incision will be at the intra-oral level in the upper lip mucous membrane to create a “bag” for the implant.
Time – Cosmetic surgery to place cheek implants takes from 40 minutes to an hour.
