General description
Chemical peeling uses different chemical substances on the skin to exfoliate external layers. If you want to repair sun damaged skin, minimize wrinkles, improve the appearance of scars, acne, or chickenpox spots and de-color or eliminate stains, chemical peeling is the treatment you need.
Technical description
Procedure – Chemical peeling eliminates as many skin layers as the substance allows. The deeper it goes, the greater the risks. This procedure is generally performed in the face.
Chemical substances used are:
* Trichloroacetic acid
* Salicilic acid
* Golden Peeling Plus (Jessner plus resorcine)
* Kojic acid
* Retinoic acid among others
Hospitalization – Chemical peeling is an ambulatory procedure.
Time – Time needed for the procedure will depend on the amount of skin treated and the substance used. It varies from ten minutes and two hours.
