Angel’s Touch Clinic was started over 25 years ago in San Jose del Cabo (near Cabo) by Doctora Rosa Elena Pena Madero. The young dentist had graduated at the top of her dental college with High Honors at the University Autonomous National Mexico, winning a medal in a national dental competition along the way. She moved to Baja and opened a clinic across from San Jose’s Central Cathedral Plaza. Back then quaint San Jose still had cattle and burros roaming the downtown and the young doctora would walk the towns dirt streets wearing high heels to work in her clinic each day while carrying her two babies under her arms.
As Los Cabos grew – so did her clinic, with 80% of her practice consisted of foreign patients. The Internet, and the high cost of health care in industrialized nations gave rise to the phenomenon of healthcare tourism. International media attention to Angels Touch Clinic has been widespread with patients now coming in every week from all over the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and the Middle East. Locally – Angel’s Touch is the provider for the guests of major Los Cabos hotels including the Westin, Hilton, Sheraton, Mayan Palace and Palmilla. Other companies provided for include staffs of banks Bancomer, Santander, Bannorte’ and Scotia Bank as well as local private hospitals. In expanding the clinic, the doctor traveled to mainland Mexico to interview prospective dentists. Always the perfectionist and concerned about maintaining high standards at her clinic, she traveled to four cities conducting job interviews just to hire her implant specialist Dr. Tony Garcia. Not satisfied with local lab work, she brought German trained lab technicians over from Mexico City who make perfect crowns. Angel’s Touch uses the same equipment, orders materials from the same American catalogues and maintains the same high standards of hygiene as do the best clinics in the USA or anywhere else. The new (April 2008) Angel’s Touch Makeover Spa is for the special patient who wants serious cosmetic dentistry – often involving full mouth restorations. With her new concept in dental vacations - your trip to the dentist can include relaxing by a swimming pool with a book, a cool drink, lunch and perhaps a massage or beauty treatment. From inside the Spa one can view golfers mere yards away, hear the ocean waves crash on the shore, and birds singing songs all day (and night) according to patients who’ve stayed in the guest suite. Well, you have to appreciate wildlife….

Over the years she developed a loyal patient following among the local American and Canadian community – many who would bring family and friends from abroad to see her. She earned a reputation as “The dentist with the touch of an angel” – as some patients would literally fall asleep during treatment. Her husband (formerly a patient) – swears he fell asleep during a root canal and woke up married…. Children immediately feel comfortable with her (some even undergoing treatment without anesthesia!), and patients who were once fearful dental avoiders – became happy new patients after experiencing the Angel’s Touch. (Having a doctor of anesthesiology at hand helps with the serious cases.)
